Maintenance Technician

Job Introduction

Ford Halewood Transmissions Limited (FHTL) is seeking Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to support their growing business. Maintenance Engineers play a key role in ensuring that our production machinery, assembly lines, and equipment are maintained and repaired to guarantee smooth and continuous operations. You'll work according to FHTL's procedures, prioritising Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Environmental goals.

Role Responsibility

  • Perform problem-solving and diagnosis on a range of Siemens PLC-controlled equipment.

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, CNC machines, and robots in line with industry standards.

  • Collaboratively record all work undertaken, ensuring accurate documentation.

  • Work to identify and resolve Electrical and Mechanical issues, with a focus on continuous improvement and reliability.

  • Follow safety protocols and risk assessments, ensuring a safe work environment.

  • Work closely with other Maintenance Engineers and teams, combining a team-oriented approach with a strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Partner with Vendors, Production, and Process Engineering teams to maximise uptime and contribute to continuous improvements across machines.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Recognised Engineering Craft Apprenticeship and ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering - Required

  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using PCs, able to thrive under pressure, collaborative, and a skilled multitasker with a positive, solution-focused attitude - Required

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance Engineering role is essential and highly valued.

  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis on pneumatics, hydraulics, and CNC machines is preferred but not essential. We encourage applicants with transferable skills to apply.

  • Understanding of Profibus systems and Siemens PLCs is advantageous.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across shifts and handover technical information effectively.

  • Familiarity with reading and using technical manuals and drawings in both Mechanical & Electrical contexts.

Hours: Various shifts - flexibility is required

About the Company

Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd is undergoing a huge transformation, with significant growth in 2023. To prepare for the upcoming launch we are looking for a range of skills to join the workforce. Ford is investing £355m into the Halewood site to produce electric power units and Halewood will be the first site to manufacture EV components in Europe, commencing in 2024 with a capacity of 420,000 units.
